Everyone has a story. We each bring history to our relationships, stories from days gone by. In the beginning of every couple's life together comes the blending of each person's stories. The goal is to increase awareness of the need for all couples to have the same legal rights to civil marriage. Today we took a cruise on The Queen of the Lake II at Buckeye Lake, OH. It was a grand time with a wonderful couple, Betsy & Susan. Surrounding ourselves with other Caffected couples, as we've found over & over again, energizes us and reminds us how incredible vibrant relationships are.

It's always good to hear the views of people regarding, not just the word marriage, but the whole concept of marriage and what it means to each couple.

What do you do to create fun in your relationship?

Understanding that life presents challenges every day helps us take them on. It's easy to take the next step and make those challenges fun, and it can strengthen a relationship. Recently we had the chance to prove this first hand. A condo we've had as a rental was used rather harshly by our tenant. Being empty-nesters, we've decided to sell our four bedroom home, and move back to the condo. Fixing it up will require patience, persistence, hard work and money. However, we've also decided to make it fun. How? The first night, we camped-out after removing carpet, and cleaning. We invited friends over for a picnic and a bottle of wine. Then we swapped ideas about color schemes, painting, flooring bathrooms etc. You know you have true friends when they help rip out old, cigarette-stinking carpet, sit on lawn chairs eating mac and cheese and volunteer to help move and paint. How cool is that?

A "good" relationship can mean different things to different people. So what makes your relationship a Caffected one?

Imagine being with someone who treats you with respect because you treat them with respect. A person who gives back the attention you send their way. Someone you look forward to spending time with because they're as interested in you as you are them. Sounds pretty cool, doesn't it?

It is.

Is it possible that every relationship is one of caffection? Not likely, since many people are only interested in their own needs. However, if you're willing to give away what it is you want, you have the potential to receive the love, attention and affection you desire. BTW caffected sex is great too!

A caffected marriage is as sexy as you-know-where. Two people passionately in love with each other, devoted, committed, caffected, is the sexiest image in art, literature, song or reality. Sexy, caffected love has defined civilizations, changed cultures, produced masterpieces, and launched a thousand ships. And the center staple of all that passion has been sex, and the intimacy that goes hand in glove (so to speak) with it.

Since mankind made the connection between sex and babies it's been humanity's driving ambition to separate the two so the one could be more thoroughly enjoyed. Not that we don't enjoy babies, God love 'em, but we need our own grownup version of suckling, cooing and crying in the night, too. Indeed, an argument can be made that the Creator made sex beneficial to our psyche and comfort so we'd put our minds to finding a way to enjoy it without its reproductive baggage. Sex is powerful comfort in a relationship. More so in a caffected marriage where each member has the others' complete and utter benefit in mind. Sex is simply the cement that bonds us like nothing else. And it's fun, too!
